Poland Foils Russian Plot to Kill Ukrainian-American

Poland’s prime minister, Donald Tusk, revealed on Thursday that authorities had arrested a Russian citizen who was allegedly recruited by Russia’s secret services to kill a Ukrainian-American citizen in Warsaw.

Details of the Plot

The operation was carried out in cooperation with U.S. services, according to Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland’s minister coordinating secret services. The targeted victim was a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin, who was deemed “uncomfortable for the Putin regime” by Prime Minister Tusk.

The Russian citizen was taken into custody by Polish authorities on August 7. Officials did not immediately provide more details about the case, citing the need to protect sensitive information.
