A small plane on a training flight made an emergency landing on a Florida interstate Monday morning, narrowly missing highway signs and vehicles. The single-engine Piper PA-28 Cherokee was preparing to land at Pensacola International Airport when the pilot radioed that there was a problem with the plane.
Emergency Landing
The pilot reported that the oil pressure was dropping and there were fumes in the cockpit. The plane had taken off from Pensacola about 30 minutes earlier. Two people were on board the plane at the time, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Eric Johnson, a truck driver, witnessed the plane landing on the highway. He said it was a miracle that no one was injured. The pilot and the flight student on board, as well as the drivers on the highway, were not hurt.
