Background
Currently, Pinellas Park does not have review standards for data centers. During the 12-month period, City staff will examine the Land Development Code and create proposed amendments addressing design, review, and land capability, as well as environmental and water resource impacts.
Local resident Claire Quick expressed concerns about the impacts of data center development, citing the potential for increased utility costs and limited permanent job creation. In contrast, businessman Robert Kelzer argued that development brings people into the city, supporting local businesses and growth.
Attorney Tyler Hudson, representing American Tower Corporation, requested a continuance to work with city staff and the city attorney on creating regulations that align with the city’s objectives.
