A recent encounter in Philadelphia’s Independence National Historic Park led to a sprawling investigation involving drugs, guns, and mysterious chemicals. A park ranger approached a black BMW parked in a reserved spot, finding 44-year-old Eugene Horsch and a woman engaged in what appeared to be illegal drug activity.
Investigation and Search
The woman presented an ID with a name that belonged to a missing person in Philadelphia. Authorities executed a search warrant at Horsch’s home, finding more weapons, drugs, and chemicals. The FBI was called in to help identify the chemicals, which included a 55-gallon drum with connections to water lines.
A note mentioning notorious serial killer Ted Bundy was also found at the home. Horsch’s defense attorney, Jerry Brown, plans to enter pleas of not guilty for the charges. Brown suggested that the writings about Ted Bundy might have come from Horsch’s eccentric father, who previously lived in the house and died last year.
The news of the arrest caught the attention of the family of Amy McHale, a woman who was once married to Horsch’s father and disappeared nearly 10 years ago. McHale’s family expressed concerns that something might have happened to her at Horsch’s home.
