Pepsi National Battle of the Bands Returns to Boca Raton in 2027

The Pepsi National Battle of the Bands is set to make its second stop in the Palm Beaches, landing at Florida Atlantic University’s Flagler Credit Union Stadium in Boca Raton during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend in 2027. Organizers announced Wednesday that five ensembles from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) will perform, bringing vibrant campus culture to a region that lacks its own HBCU.

Participating schools and mission

The lineup includes Alabama State University, Edward Waters University, Miles College, Bethune‑Cookman University, and Florida A&M University. “We use this platform to generate scholarships and opportunities for our youth to support music, arts and education,” said Derek Webber, CEO of Webber Marketing and creator‑executive producer of the showcase. Webber added that the event aims to inspire local young people to “dream big” and see pathways to success through music and entrepreneurship.

Community programming beyond the stage

In addition to the musical competition, the weekend will feature a free entrepreneurship conference and an HBCU college‑and‑career fair, giving attendees access to small‑business resources, capital‑raising workshops, and information on higher‑education options. “That’s the whole idea for us—to create and focus on this market, to give the youth greater access to capital and small‑business loans,” Webber explained.

Local leaders praise the economic impact

Mayor Andy Thomson praised the event’s potential to energize the local economy. “I love the idea that we’re really pouring into the community and offering resources to folks to have greater access to capital or small‑business loans. The fact that it’s happening here at this event is wonderful,” he said.

Leaders of the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council noted that the 2023 edition generated an estimated $10 million in economic impact. Executive Director Emanuel J. Perry said the council hopes to double both attendance and economic benefit in 2027. “We’re just looking to double the attendance, double the economic impact and double the intentionality between making an impact with our kids right here in the tri‑county area,” he said.

Tickets and logistics

Tickets for the 2027 showcase are on sale now through the event’s official website. Attendees can expect free parking at the stadium, family‑friendly seating, and a schedule that balances performances with the entrepreneurship and career fair sessions. The event is expected to draw visitors from across South Florida, boosting hospitality and retail sectors throughout Boca Raton and the surrounding counties.

Why the showcase matters to Boca Raton

While Palm Beach County is culturally diverse, it does not host an HBCU of its own. The Battle of the Bands therefore serves as a bridge, bringing the rich traditions of HBCU marching bands, dance teams, and student organizations directly to local audiences. The event aligns with community values of family, faith, and opportunity, offering a wholesome weekend activity for families and reinforcing the region’s commitment to supporting youth development.

Local churches and civic groups have already pledged support, planning volunteer opportunities and post‑event service projects. The collaboration underscores Boca Raton’s tradition of community partnership and its dedication to fostering environments where families can thrive.

Looking ahead

Organizers are optimistic that the 2027 showcase will set a new standard for cultural and economic impact in the Palm Beaches. With a strong lineup of HBCU talent, a robust schedule of educational programming, and enthusiastic backing from city officials and business leaders, the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands promises to be a highlight of the holiday weekend and a catalyst for continued growth in Boca Raton.
