A recent analysis by the Center for Strategic and International Studies found that the U.S. military’s stockpiles of advanced missile interceptors, such as Patriot and THAAD interceptors, have been depleted due to recent fighting with Iran. This could put American troops at greater risk if hostilities resume.
President Donald Trump has responded to reports of a munitions shortage, stating that the U.S. has ‘massive amounts’ of weapons and that ‘large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed.’ The Pentagon’s efforts to boost production will inform the fiscal year 2028 budget, which is currently stalled in Congress.
