Pentagon Releases UFO Files

The Pentagon has released a new batch of UFO documents and videos, marking the third major disclosure of records of unidentified anomalous phenomena in recent months. The files, which include 53 documents, 10 images, 6 videos, and 3 audio recordings, were uploaded to the Pentagon’s official UFO website.

Details of the Releases

The newly declassified files feature civilian eyewitness encounters collected by the FBI, including four videos that highlight strange events in the Western U.S. over two days in October 2023. The descriptions detailed in the documents are highly specific, with one agent describing ‘weird lights moving along in groups miles away’ and another watching red lights that ‘accelerated instantly and maneuvered with perfect, smooth coordination into a horizontal formation.’

A person identified in the files as Witness 4 reported seeing smaller orbs ‘being hatched from the larger very bright orange light,’ noting they lost count ‘after five occurrences.’ Witness 3 compared the display to ‘grapes being expelled from a basketball’ and remembered their partner asking, ‘Are you seeing this?’

Civilian footage captured on iPhones makes up a significant portion of the newly released visual evidence. A July 2025 video dubbed ‘Northeastern Orb Sighting’ shows two bright lights moving across the sky. According to the FBI interview notes attached to the file, ‘The witnesses described the orbs’ motion as silent and smooth, and as moving in tandem as though they were flying in formation or tethered together.’

Historical Context

The release also looks back at historical government responses to the phenomenon. Documents from a 1952 and 1953 CIA group called the ‘Scientific Advisory Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects’ are included in the drop. At the time, the panel determined flying saucers were not a physical threat to the country. However, they recommended an official policy of ‘debunking’ the issue to ‘strip the UFO subject of its mystery,’ warning that adversaries could exploit a ‘morbid national psychology’ surrounding the topic.
