Parramore native Timothy Green is proposing to build an urban smart city in the historic Orlando neighborhood, a project that he says will bring much-needed housing, economic development, training, jobs, and more to the area.

The proposed development, known as Green District Smart City, will include 2,000 residential units, 700-800 hotel keys, over half a million square feet of attraction space, retail space, museums, a performing arts center, food courts, a 40,000-square-foot grocery store, and parking. Green also plans to include a vertiport for electrically powered aircraft.

Jeff Palmer, co-owner of Palmer’s Feed and Seed, a business that has been in Parramore for nearly 80 years, expressed support for the project, stating that it will bring more people and commerce to the area, which will be good for local businesses.

Green, who was born and raised in Parramore and still lives there, said that he wants to give back to his community. He stated that the project is a major step in bringing economic development to the area and that it will have an economic impact of about $900 million to a billion dollars annually.

The urban smart city plan is currently going through an administrative process with the city, and Green has filed under Florida’s Live Local Act, a state law designed to expand the supply of affordable and workforce housing by allowing more types of residential developments in areas zoned for commercial or industrial use.
