Overstreet Knox to debut album at Dallas’ historic Trees venue

Dallas musicians are turning a long‑held dream into reality. The four‑piece rock band Overstreet Knox will take the stage at Trees, the storied Deep Ellum venue, on Saturday, August 22, at 8 p.m. The concert will feature the group’s entire debut album, “Is It Good for The Company?”

From corporate nine‑to‑five to the stage

Lead singer Griffin Vail, drummer Jack Lambeth, bassist Luke Hill and guitarist Jack Poncy all hold corporate positions after earning degrees and entering the workforce. Yet they kept music alive by jamming after work in a small home studio. “We couldn’t let go of the ‘what if,’” Lambeth said, noting that the band would have felt empty without trying to share their songs publicly.

The band’s journey began in a sound‑proofed shed where they first experimented with riffs and lyrics. Over the past year they wrote roughly 30 songs, narrowing the selection to 13 tracks for the album. Themes range from yearning and jealousy to escapism, each built from a single riff or lyric that grew into a full composition.

Professional support and production

Grammy‑winning producer and Dallas‑based audio engineer Tre Nagella, who runs Luminous Sound, took a chance on the group and helped record the debut album. “This was the hardest thing any of us have ever done—emotionally, time‑wise, effort‑wise, financially,” guitarist Poncy explained.

Band members describe the record as a labor of love, infused with “blood, sweat, and tears.” Bassist Hill added, “We’re really proud of the product we put together.” The album is slated for an official release this fall, and the Trees performance will be the first time the full set is heard live.

What to expect at Trees

Trees, a landmark venue known for hosting legendary acts, offers an intimate setting that aligns with the band’s desire to connect directly with the audience. “It’s crazy that we are playing Trees. It’s a historic, iconic venue,” Lambeth remarked.

Fans attending the show can expect a full run‑through of the 13‑track album, showcasing the band’s evolution from basement rehearsals to a polished live performance. The group hopes the concert will demonstrate that their musical aspirations are more than a “silly little dream.”

Looking ahead

Following the debut show, Overstreet Knox plans to continue writing, recording, and performing, aiming to build on the momentum generated by the Trees concert and the upcoming album release. Their story highlights the balance many Dallas residents strike between professional responsibilities and personal passions.
