More than 100,000 people are expected to gather in downtown Orlando on Saturday for the city’s annual Fireworks at the Fountain celebration at Lake Eola Park. The free Fourth of July event begins at 4 p.m., with live entertainment, food vendors, family activities and a fireworks show scheduled to begin around 9:10 p.m.
Road Closures
Several roads around Lake Eola will be closed throughout the day to prepare for and accommodate the event. Eola Drive is already closed ahead of the celebration. Robinson Street will close at 7 a.m. Saturday. Rosalind Avenue and Central Boulevard will close at 2 p.m. Saturday. All roads are expected to reopen around midnight, once the event concludes and crowds have dispersed.
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time if they need to be in the downtown area. Parking will be limited, with only a limited number of paid parking garages and surface lots available in downtown Orlando. Event organizers encourage attendees to carpool whenever possible, use rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft, and arrive early to secure parking.
Expect heavy traffic after the fireworks, as tens of thousands of people leave the downtown area at the same time. Drivers should remain patient, watch for large numbers of pedestrians crossing downtown streets, and expect delays while leaving the event.
