Oregon Gas Prices Drop 13.6 Cents, Following National Trend

In a welcome development for Oregon residents, gasoline prices have decreased by 13.6 cents per gallon over the past week, according to data from GasBuddy. This brings the average price in the state to $5.05 per gallon, a trend that mirrors the national decline of 17.9 cents per gallon, with the U.S. average now at $4.09 per gallon.

Local Impact and Trends

Oregon’s gasoline prices are now 24.2 cents lower than a month ago, although they remain $1.15 higher than the same time last year. This decrease is part of a broader national trend, where the average price has dropped by 45.2 cents from a month ago, yet stands $1.02 higher than a year ago. Diesel prices have also seen a reduction, falling by 13.8 cents to $5.299 per gallon nationally.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, explained that the decline in prices is largely due to falling oil prices and increased refinery output after seasonal maintenance. “The combination of lower oil costs and improving refinery runs has kept downward pressure on pump prices, giving motorists a welcome reprieve,” De Haan noted. However, he cautioned that the future remains uncertain, particularly with global oil supplies tightening due to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Price Variations Across Oregon

Within Oregon, there is a significant variation in gas prices. A survey of 1,307 stations showed the cheapest price at $4.27 per gallon, while the most expensive was $6.19 per gallon. In major cities, Eugene’s prices fell to $4.97 per gallon, Salem’s to $4.98, and Portland’s to $5.19 per gallon, each reflecting a notable decrease from the previous week.

Historically, the average price for gasoline in Oregon on June 8 has varied significantly over the years, with prices at $3.90 in 2025, $4.14 in 2024, and $5.48 in 2022. Nationally, prices on the same date were $3.07 in 2025 and $4.98 in 2022.

GasBuddy, a PDI Technologies company, continues to provide real-time fuel price data across North America, helping consumers find the best prices at over 150,000 stations.
