NKU Alum Jesse Randall Joins New Zealand World Cup Squad

Jesse Randall, a former standout forward for Northern Kentucky University (NKU), has achieved a significant milestone by being named to the New Zealand World Cup soccer roster. This marks the first time a former NKU player has been selected for such a prestigious tournament.

Randall’s Journey from NKU to the World Stage

Randall, who hails from Wellington, New Zealand, made a notable impact during his time at NKU. In 2021, he was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the league’s First Team. During that season, he scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 17 matches, ranking 20th in the nation for goals scored.

After his successful stint at NKU, Randall moved on to play for Auckland FC in Australia’s A-League. Despite limited appearances in his first season, he became a key player in the 2025/26 campaign, helping Auckland FC secure the A-League’s Grand Final. Randall led the team in starts and was among the top contributors with nine goals and six assists.

Upcoming Challenges and Opportunities

Looking ahead, Randall will join Dundee United in Scotland on a two-year deal, furthering his professional career in European soccer. His international experience with the New Zealand national team, known as the All Whites, includes nine caps prior to the World Cup.

New Zealand is set to compete in Group G of the World Cup, with matches scheduled against Iran, Egypt, and Belgium. Despite the All Whites’ historical challenges at the World Cup, Randall’s inclusion brings hope and excitement to the team and its supporters.
