OnPoint Community Credit Union donates $30,000 to Oregon wildfire relief

OnPoint Community Credit Union, the largest credit union headquartered in Oregon, announced a $30,000 donation to support wildfire relief and recovery across Oregon and Southwest Washington. The grant is split into three equal $10,000 portions, each directed to a different organization that is actively assisting residents affected by the recent Bench Fire that has scorched more than 2.5 million acres.

How the funds will be used

The American Red Cross will apply its share to emergency shelter, meals and essential relief supplies for families displaced by the flames. The GoWest Foundation Disaster Relief Fund will use its portion to provide direct financial assistance to OnPoint employees, volunteers and board members who have suffered personal losses in the disaster. The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will channel its allocation into a dedicated recovery fund aimed at helping tribal members rebuild homes, restore cultural sites and protect the natural resources that sustain the community.

Voices from the community

Rob Stuart, president and chief executive officer of OnPoint, said, “Wildfires have had a significant impact on communities in our region, including places where our members and employees live and work. During times like these, working together to help our neighbors is more important than ever. We are grateful for these organizations providing critical resources and proud to support their work helping those impacted by these devastating wildfires.”

Edward R. Henderson, secretary‑treasurer and CEO of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, added, “For our people, this land is more than acres—it’s the fish, the water, the foods that have sustained us for generations. These are gifts from the Creator that we are responsible for protecting. We’re grateful for OnPoint’s support as we work to restore what was lost.”

About OnPoint Community Credit Union

Founded in 1932, OnPoint serves more than 656,000 members across 33 Oregon counties and four counties in Southwest Washington. The credit union’s extensive footprint makes it a key financial partner for many families, small businesses and community organizations throughout the region. In addition to this donation, OnPoint is urging its members and the broader public to consider making direct contributions to the American Red Cross, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, and the GoWest Foundation Disaster Relief Fund to further bolster recovery efforts.

Looking ahead

As the region continues to grapple with the aftermath of the Bench Fire, local leaders, tribal authorities and nonprofit groups are coordinating resources to ensure that displaced residents receive the assistance they need to rebuild their lives. OnPoint’s contribution underscores the role that locally rooted financial institutions can play in fostering resilience and supporting the families and faith‑based communities that form the backbone of Oregon’s neighborhoods.
