Lane Kiffin, the new head coach of the LSU Tigers, recently made headlines with his comments about racism in Oxford, Mississippi. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kiffin stated that some Black family members were concerned about racism in Mississippi, which affected his recruiting efforts at Ole Miss.
Chambliss Responds
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has publicly disagreed with Kiffin’s claims. Chambliss said, ‘I don’t think that what he said was truthful. … The Oxford community is nothing but love and they care about their people no matter what they look like.’
Chambliss also shared his personal experience with the Oxford community, saying, ‘The people in Mississippi and Oxford showed me nothing but love.’ He recalled a visit he made to Ole Miss before deciding to transfer, where he asked his family about their impression of the people and the place. His family had a positive experience, and his mom, who is ‘super religious,’ had a good feeling about it.
