Olathe, Kansas is set to become home to a $320 million accessible entertainment district, dubbed Halo Ridge. The first phase of the development, the Halo Care Collective, is on track to open on January 1, 2027. This one-stop medical campus will cater to people with disabilities and their families, offering a range of services including physical and behavioral therapy, vision care, and legal assistance.
Accessible Entertainment
The larger entertainment district, set to open in spring 2028, will feature an arena, amusement park, hotel, and restaurants, all designed with accessibility in mind. The amusement park, Michael’s WonderWorld, will be fully inclusive, allowing people who use wheelchairs to stay in their chairs while riding the attractions.
Developers are using STAR bonds to finance the project, with the Kansas Department of Commerce approving up to $65 million in bonds. State and local tax incentives will cover about $100 million of the project.
Community Impact
The development is expected to have a significant impact on the local community, providing a unique entertainment and medical destination for people with disabilities and their families. With its focus on accessibility, Halo Ridge aims to set a new standard for inclusive entertainment and healthcare facilities.
