A soup kit sold exclusively at Walmart stores in Oklahoma and 28 other states has been recalled due to possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. The 14 oz. Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit was distributed to stores from June 30 through July 7.
According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Short-term symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Consumers who purchased the mix are advised to dispose of the product or return it to the store for a refund. They are also advised to thoroughly wash their hands after handling the product.
