Oklahoma State Cowboys dominate Murray State 59-0 with five TD passes from Mestemaker

In a showcase of offensive firepower, the Oklahoma State Cowboys crushed the Murray State Racers 59-0 on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker delivered a flawless performance, completing 20 of 22 passes for 324 yards and five touchdown throws.

Key offensive highlights

Freshman wide receiver Justin Bowick emerged as the top target, hauling in nine receptions for a career‑high 178 yards, both marks achieved in the first half. Bowick also secured two of Mestemaker’s touchdown passes.

The Cowboys’ backup quarterback, freshman Broderick Vehrs, contributed a perfect six‑for‑six passing line for 37 yards and added a touchdown, underscoring the depth of Oklahoma State’s passing attack.

Dominant yardage and efficiency

Oklahoma State amassed 662 total yards, the first time the program has eclipsed the 600‑yard mark since a 601‑yard effort against Cincinnati in October 2023. The team scored on nine of its first ten drives, with the only setback being a fumble lost at the Murray State 21‑yard line.

In contrast, Murray State quarterback Jim Ogle managed 79 passing yards on 13 of 21 attempts, and the Racers finished with just 160 yards of total offense.

Special teams and defensive notes

During Murray State’s second drive, a 32‑yard field‑goal attempt was nullified by a delay‑of‑game penalty. Oklahoma State nose tackle Luke Webb blocked the subsequent 37‑yard attempt, marking the third blocked field goal of the season for the Racers.

The Cowboys’ defense held the Racers scoreless throughout the contest, preserving the shutout and allowing the offense to operate without pressure.

Looking ahead

Oklahoma State will travel to West Virginia for its next game on Saturday, Sept. 26, while Murray State returns home to face Southern Illinois on the same day.

The decisive victory reinforces the Cowboys’ offensive identity under head coach Mike Gundy and sets a strong tone as the team continues its 2026 campaign.
