McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma, has asked Netflix viewers not to request visits after the release of ‘Maternal Instinct’, a documentary about a 2020 murder case. The documentary tells the story of Taylor Parker, who murdered her friend, Reagan Simmons-Hancock, and removed her unborn child from her body.
The Incident
Parker was taken to McCurtain Memorial Hospital, where she claimed to have just given birth on the side of the road. However, it was later discovered that she had removed the unborn child from her friend’s body. Parker was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in 2022.
The hospital has asked viewers not to request visits or take pictures of hospital staff, citing the emotional impact of the tragedy on the victim’s family, the community, and the healthcare professionals who responded to the incident.
A Message from the Hospital
In a statement, the hospital said, ‘While the events portrayed were real and remain a matter of public record, they also represent one of the most painful chapters in the lives of the victim’s family, the New Boston community, and the healthcare professionals who responded that day.’ The hospital will not participate in interviews, photo opportunities, tours, or discussions related to the events.
