An Oklahoma City Police Department K9, Dash, was injured after being dragged by a suspect driving a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on June 28 near Southeast 19th Street and Santa Fe Avenue.
Incident Details
Police found the stolen vehicle and the suspect initially got out, but then jumped back in and fled. Dash sprang into action, engaging the suspect in the driver’s seat. The suspect started to drive away, but Dash did not let go. The suspect dragged Dash a significant distance before breaking his grip.
The suspect drove south on South Santa Fe Avenue and then along railroad tracks next to South Shields Boulevard before the truck got stuck in the gravel. The suspect ran into a nearby wooded area before being taken into custody. A small bag of meth was found after the suspect was seen throwing an object into the tree line.
Dash was taken to a veterinary clinic and treated for road rash on his paws. He is expected to make a full recovery.
