The Oklahoma City metro area has seen the passage of the Rockets’ Red Glare Act, which allows Oklahomans to shoot fireworks on private property with certain restrictions. However, many cities in the OKC metro are still enforcing their fireworks bans for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Oklahoma City Fireworks Laws
Oklahoma City officials have announced that they are keeping their fireworks ban in place. According to the city, the Rockets’ Red Glare Act only applies to private property in unincorporated areas of the state, and cities have the authority to regulate fireworks within city limits.
The Oklahoma City fireworks ban includes sparklers, snakes, bottle rockets, and all other consumer-grade fireworks. Residents are encouraged to report illegal fireworks to the city’s fireworks hotline at 405-297-2222 or by emailing [email protected] or texting 405-252-1053.
Other City Fireworks Laws
Other cities in the OKC metro have their own fireworks laws. Edmond, Moore, and Norman have all banned fireworks within city limits, while Mustang allows consumer fireworks to be set off on certain days and times. Yukon has also banned fireworks, but will be hosting a fireworks show as part of its Freedom Fest celebration.
Residents are encouraged to check with their local city government for specific fireworks laws and regulations in their area.
