OKC Will Rogers International Airport is preparing for a busy holiday weekend as AAA reports more than 72 million people could travel for the Fourth of July weekend, with airlines prepared to serve up to 8.1 million flyers nationwide.
Local Travel Expectations
Airport officials said about 7,000 people are expected to fly out through the rest of the week, with the airport’s busiest time being 6 a.m. when the first flights are heading out. "Fourth of July is kind of that last big vacation time for families before school starts," said Stacey Hamm with OKC Will Rogers International Airport.
Airport officials advise travelers to have their REAL ID ready, book parking ahead of time, and arrive early. Security lines are expected to move quickly.
