An off-duty Philadelphia police officer fired shots at suspects who allegedly attempted to steal his car in the city’s Eastwick section, according to sources.
The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. on Monday when the suspects allegedly broke into the officer’s Dodge Charger. The suspects then pushed the vehicle around the block and attempted to start it.
The off-duty officer encountered the suspects at S. 70th Street and Waxming Place, where he fired several shots. At least five shots were fired, and investigators have found shell casings in the area.
The suspects were unsuccessful in stealing the car and escaped in a stolen red Lexus ES 350, according to officials. The officer was not injured in the incident.
