Support for Israel has become a major flashpoint in the race, with El-Sayed calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal” and referring to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as a “genocide.” McMorrow has also characterized the Israeli military action in Gaza as a “genocide,” while Stevens has the backing of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and disagrees with Israel’s campaign in Gaza being characterized as a genocide.
