OC Fair Opens with New Eats, Family Deals

The 136th annual Orange County Fair has opened its doors, running through mid-August with a focus on making the event more approachable and affordable for families. According to OC Fair CEO James Canfield, the fair has increased its attendance capacity while keeping ticket prices the same as last year.

New Offerings and Attractions

This year, the fair introduces a $5 Taste of Fair menu, featuring sample-sized portions of popular foods from participating vendors. Additionally, a children’s menu has been added, providing a $10 meal option that includes an entree, chips, French fries, and a drink.

The carnival midway will feature about 70 rides, including a new attraction called Air Raid, described as an intense multidimensional spinning experience. For those with weaker stomachs, the Ferris wheel and a variety of calm rides are also available.

The fair’s theme this year is ‘Your Adventure Awaits,’ with exhibits and decorations recognizing the nation’s 250th anniversary through red, white, and blue displays. Opening day festivities include a flyover, and fairgoers can watch World Cup soccer matches broadcast on screens throughout the fairgrounds.

Family-Friendly Activities and Competitions

Dance lessons and live music for karaoke singers will be available, along with an expanded range of competitions and exhibitions of art. The fair has also introduced a home brew beer competition for amateur brewers.

Live music fans can enjoy more shows, with the number of concerts at the Pacific Amphitheater increasing from 27 to 35 acts this year. The fair has also expanded its seating and TV screens for the popular pig races, making it easier for attendees to watch.
