Obama Endorses Iowa Democrat for US Senate

Former President Barack Obama has endorsed Iowa Democrat Josh Turek for the US Senate in a video of the two playing basketball. Turek, a state representative, is running to flip a Republican-held seat in Iowa.

Obama’s Endorsement

Obama, who won Iowa in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, expressed his support for Turek in a lighthearted video. The two played a game of I-O-W-A instead of horse, with Obama saying he got “whooped” by Turek.

Turek faces Republican U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson, who has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the upcoming election. Democrats are hoping to win the Senate majority, and Iowa is seen as a key battleground state.
