Las Vegas – The family of Alisa Goods, a 63‑year‑old New York City resident, received confirmation on Friday that she was found dead near Harry Reid International Airport. Goods had been missing since August 8, when she told a friend she was heading to a CVS store and never returned.
Discovery of the body
Police said the body was located in a drainage ditch adjacent to a parking structure on Thursday after a passerby reported a body near the airport. Security camera footage from the day she vanished shows Goods falling down an embankment on Wayne Newton Boulevard and becoming hidden from view.
Family’s experience
Goods, a Newark native who lived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, was staying with a friend in Las Vegas during her vacation. The friend filed a missing‑person report two days after Goods disappeared. Her niece, Alana Calloway, issued a statement on behalf of the family, expressing deep grief and requesting prayers and privacy.
During the search, the family received text messages and a phone call that appeared to come from Goods’ phone. The messages demanded money and bitcoin, and the caller claimed to be Alisa, but the family said the voice did not match her. Police indicated the communications were likely the work of scammers using “spoofing” technology and did not believe Goods was in danger at the time.
Investigation status
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have not classified the case as suspicious and continue to investigate it as a missing‑person matter. The cause and manner of death have not yet been released.
The family, who described Goods as an active and healthy grandmother of five, said the circumstances of her disappearance were unlike her usual behavior. They continue to seek answers while mourning her loss.
