Norman’s Fourth of July fireworks show is set for Friday night, almost a week after the celebration had to be rescheduled because of damaging severe storms.
Storm Debris Cleanup
On July 4, storms produced 90 mph wind gusts that uprooted trees, knocked over power poles, and left debris scattered throughout Norman. City crews in Norman are back out picking up debris that remains.
People who have storm debris need to put it in the public right-of-way near the curb. They also should separate limbs and vegetation from construction and demolition debris. Norman officials also said debris should be kept away from mailboxes, fire hydrants, utility meters, and parked vehicles.
Debris will be picked up over the next four to five weeks. Wards 2, 3, 4, and 8 will be picked up July 9-23, and Wards 1, 5, and 7 will be picked up July 23-Aug. 6.
The Fourth Fest fireworks show rescheduled for Friday night will begin at 9:45 p.m. at Reaves Park, with live music before the fireworks start.
