New Mexico State University’s football team has added 25 new players for the 2026 season, including 15 transfers from other Division I schools, eight high school recruits, and two from junior colleges.
Notable Transfers
The new additions include four quarterbacks, three running backs, six wide receivers, five tight ends, and seven offensive linemen. Notable transfers include former Furman QB Trey Hedden, former Delaware State RB James Jones, and former UTEP OL James Williams.
QB Trey Arnold, a freshman from Mission Bay High School in California, holds seven school records, including career passing yards, career completions, and career touchdown passes. QB Trey Hedden, a junior from Furman, was a Southern Conference All-Freshman team selection in 2024 and started all 12 games in 2025.
Other notable players include RB James Jones, a senior from Delaware State, who was a first-team All-MEAC selection and BOXTOROW’s HBCU Impact Player of the Year last season; and TE Josiah Thomas, a sophomore from Western Carolina, who earned selections to the All-SoCon second team and the SoCon All-Freshman team in 2025.
