New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez has voiced his support for the Epstein Transparency Files Act Two, which would allow attorney generals and Epstein survivors to sue the US Department of Justice for withholding or redacting records under the original transparency act.

In 2025, the Epstein Transparency Act was enacted, mandating the release of all Epstein-related files held by the federal government. However, many of the more than 3 million documents remain redacted, with critics arguing that these redactions hide politically sensitive or embarrassing information.

Torrez has opened a criminal investigation into Epstein and Zorro Ranch, and he believes the DOJ’s refusal to release unredacted files is hindering the state’s investigation. ‘Zorro Ranch is referenced over 13,000 times in those files. And yet a good deal of the information that would be helpful and relevant to our investigators and prosecutors is redacted in full,’ Torrez said.

Last week, Torrez filed a lawsuit against the DOJ to force the release of the unredacted files. ‘It’s normally the Department of Justice follows the law. But what we are seeing is they are not,’ Torrez said.
