The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is backing a bill that would expand Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and give small businesses more flexibility to offer health coverage to their employees.

Support for the Great American Healthcare Plan

The NFIB sent a letter to Representative Eric Burlison (MO-07) in support of H.R. 8324, the Great American Healthcare Plan. According to Tyler Dever, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations, the rising cost of health insurance has been a top concern for small businesses for decades.

The Great American Healthcare Plan would modernize and expand HSAs, allowing individuals to use tax-free dollars to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance. A recent NFIB member ballot found that 94% of members believe the federal government should allow individuals to use tax-free dollars from an HSA to pay for medical expenses.
