A new Vietnamese restaurant, Cần Thơ Bistro and Bar, has opened on Main Street in downtown Greenville. The restaurant is operated by Lisa and Charlie “Chuck” Doan, along with local restaurateur Cheng Yap.
Bringing a Taste of Vietnam to Greenville
The Doans, who are refugees of the Vietnam War, were convinced by Yap to return to the restaurant business after a hiatus. Their life journey took them from Vietnam to Greenville by way of Louisiana. The restaurant’s name, Cần Thơ, is inspired by Chuck’s hometown in southern Vietnam.
The menu reflects Vietnam’s history, with dishes like lúc lắc, a Vietnamese dish inspired by French cuisine. The restaurant also features hủ tiếu, a seafood noodle soup that is popular in southern Vietnam.
Cần Thơ Bistro and Bar is located at 111 S. Main St. in Greenville.
