New Mexico has awarded 13 regions a total of $24.5 million in the first round of state funding from the 2025 Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act. The aim of this act is to expand and improve mental health, substance use disorder, and crisis services through regionalization.
Projects Funded
Projects already funded include expanding residential treatment programs in 10 regions, addiction treatment services for people involved in the criminal justice system in four regions, developing treatment programs for pregnant and postpartum individuals struggling with substance use in two regions, and strengthening crisis services in all 13 regions.
In this first round of funding, nine regions have each been awarded $2 million. The grants for the remaining four regions range from $1,107,600 to $1,971,000.
