The Wag Lab, located at 1655 N. Western Ave. in Bucktown, is a new doggy daycare that combines pet care with community support. Linette Robles, the founder, aims to provide a safe space for dogs while also collecting donations for homeless pets and their owners.
Supporting the Community
Robles, a North Side native, has a passion for helping those in need. She has operated K9 Sweets and Pet Care from her home in Humboldt Park since 2017, providing mobile fecal testing and private boarding for dogs. Additionally, she has run the Oman Center, a nonprofit providing meals and hygiene products to people experiencing homelessness, since 2010.
The Wag Lab offers daycare services, including medication administration, cuddle sessions, and ‘sniffaris’ – walks that let dogs lead the way. The space also serves as a collection center for donations, such as pet supplies, food, leashes, toys, and $5 gift cards for stores like Aldi and Walmart.
Robles hopes to keep the space intimate by accepting a small number of dogs and offering a free coffee bar for pet owners during drop-off and pickup. The Wag Lab will host an open house, giving away goodie bags with items like treat-dispensing balls and poop bags.
