Navajo Veterans Receive New Homes Through ARPA Funding

In a significant initiative to support Navajo veterans, three families received the keys to their new homes in Nazlini and Low Mountain, Arizona. These homes, each measuring 1,344 square feet and equipped with utilities and appliances, were constructed as part of a broader effort to improve living conditions for veterans within the Navajo Nation.

The Navajo Nation Council allocated $50 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to fund the construction of homes for veterans. This initiative underscores the council’s commitment to expanding access to safe and permanent housing for those who have served the country. Crystalyne Curley, Speaker of the Navajo Nation Council, highlighted the strategic use of ARPA funds to benefit veterans and their families.

The homes were built by BITCO Corporation, which has pledged to deliver a total of 80 homes to veterans. Jeremiah Bitsui, founder and CEO of BITCO, expressed pride in partnering with Navajo leadership to honor and serve veterans.

This housing initiative began under the 24th Navajo Nation Council and received funding approval from former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez. The commitment to supporting veteran housing continues with the current 25th Navajo Nation Council, reflecting a sustained dedication to the welfare of those who have served.
