The increased security measures come after a June 9 incident in which a sharp knife or razor cut the pool’s new liner. One man was arrested for touching the already-peeling paint, and crews have been seen adding fencing near the area.
The Reflecting Pool has long been a site for protests, vigils, celebrations, and stunning sunrise photos. However, entering the pool has always been illegal, and visitors can now expect a stronger police presence.
