Nashville Sam’s Club Shooting Claims Life of Frito‑Lay Employee

Early Sunday morning, a stray bullet from a nearby argument entered the metal wall of a Sam’s Club on Antioch Pike in Nashville and struck Paris Carlock, 55, a Frito‑Lay employee from Murfreesboro, while he was taking inventory in the chip aisle. Police say the shot hit Carlock in the head; he was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.

Details of the incident

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) released a statement indicating that the gunfire originated from an argument that began inside Lavo Lounge, a short distance from the Sam’s Club. Security personnel removed the individuals involved from the lounge, but the dispute continued outside, and multiple vehicles left the area as shots were heard.

One of those rounds penetrated the side wall of the Sam’s Club and struck Carlock near the middle of the store. MNPD’s Homicide Unit is pursuing leads. As of Monday evening, no arrests had been announced and no shooter had been identified.

Family and corporate response

Carlock’s daughter, Kayla Carlock, remembered her father as a humble, loving man who was always ready to help others. In an interview with local station WZTV she said, “Anything that you can ever ask for, my dad will always be the person to call. He’s very loving.” She urged anyone responsible to turn themselves in, adding that the shooting “completely broke our family.”

PepsiCo, the parent company of Frito‑Lay, issued a statement expressing deep sorrow: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our colleagues. Our sincere condolences are with their family members and loved ones. We have been working closely with law enforcement and local officials regarding the matter.”

Police appeal for information

Nashville police are asking anyone with information about the gunfire or the vehicles involved to contact Crime Stoppers at 615‑742‑7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Community impact

The tragedy has shocked the Nashville community, highlighting concerns about stray gunfire and public safety in commercial areas. Local leaders have reiterated the importance of responsible gun handling and urged residents to cooperate with investigators.
