A new medical tool is helping athletes recover from injuries faster. The NanoNeedle scope is a miniaturized, flexible version of the traditional arthroscope. Several top pro athletes, including Tarik Skubal and Blake Snell, have used the NanoNeedle scope to recover from elbow injuries.
How it Works
The NanoNeedle scope is designed to cause less pain, inflammation, and tissue damage, leading to a faster recovery. It uses much less fluid than a traditional scope and is also proving to be a valuable tool when it comes to diagnosing the extent of certain injuries.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams, has used the NanoNeedle scope with four patients, including Skubal and Snell. He said the scope has been successful in reducing recovery time for athletes. Dr. James Voos, the head team physician for the Cleveland Browns, has also used the NanoNeedle scope during procedures on five Browns players.
Benefits for Younger Athletes
The NanoNeedle scope is also beneficial for younger athletes. Dr. Voos said the smaller camera allows doctors to see and work in smaller spaces, which is particularly useful for elbow injuries in gymnasts and baseball players.
