Mystics rout Tempo 79-62 behind Iriafen’s dominant double-double

The Washington Mystics handed the Toronto Tempo a lopsided defeat at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, rolling to a 79-62 victory in front of the home crowd in Toronto. The win was fueled by a commanding performance from Kiki Iriafen, who was virtually unstoppable on both ends of the floor and gave the Mystics a reliable interior anchor throughout the contest.

Iriafen finished as the game’s premier performer, pouring in a game-high 25 points while hauling down 14 rebounds to complete an emphatic double-double. Her presence in the paint proved to be the defining factor, as Washington consistently found her in advantageous positions and she delivered. Alicia Florez complemented the effort by orchestrating the offense, finishing with a team-best 5 assists to keep the Mystics moving the ball effectively.

For Toronto, Julie Allemand was the lone bright spot, leading the Tempo with 15 points and 5 rebounds — a respectable line, but not nearly enough to keep pace with Washington’s firepower. Marina Mabrey did what she could to facilitate, pacing the Tempo with 3 assists, though the home side never found a consistent rhythm offensively.

The Mystics’ dominance on the glass told much of the story. Washington finished with a staggering 47 total rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end. That second-chance production proved punishing for a Toronto squad that could not keep the visitors off the boards. Every missed Washington shot felt like a fresh opportunity, and the Mystics capitalized repeatedly to extend possessions and build their lead.

Washington shot 40 percent from the field overall, going 30-for-75, and while the three-point shooting was far from sharp — just 4-of-23 from beyond the arc, a 17 percent clip — the Mystics more than compensated by getting to the free-throw line and converting. They went 15-of-19 from the stripe, an efficient 79 percent, which helped pad the margin during key stretches when their perimeter game sputtered.

The Mystics also made their presence felt defensively, recording 6 blocks and 3 steals. Washington committed 11 turnovers on the night, a number that could have given Toronto openings, but the Tempo were unable to convert those miscues into the kind of sustained runs needed to threaten the lead.

The game unfolded as a steady Washington takeover, with Iriafen’s interior dominance and the Mystics’ relentless rebounding effort making it increasingly difficult for Toronto to generate any meaningful momentum. The Tempo, playing at home, simply could not match Washington’s physicality or depth, and the 17-point final margin reflected the gap between the two sides on this evening.

The victory is a significant result for the Mystics, who demonstrated the kind of balanced, inside-out attack — anchored by Iriafen’s elite production — that can make them a difficult opponent for any team in the league. For the Tempo, the loss underscores the work still ahead as they look to establish themselves as a competitive force at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
