San Antonio residents have taken to social media to report a series of mysterious explosions that have left some neighbors rattled. The explosions were felt across the city, with reports coming in from the Northeast Side and Northwest Side.
Residents Describe the Explosions
One resident, Juan Richard, described hearing a loud boom in his neighborhood near King Arthur and Crusade streets. "I just heard, like, a boom. Just, like, boom! And that was it," he said. Another resident, Xavier Guevara, reported hearing multiple loud booms in his neighborhood near Thomas Jefferson High School.
Guevara believes that an internet trend involving homemade fireworks may be to blame for the explosions he heard in his neighborhood. "It was a big strobe rocket coming up," he said, describing what he saw. "Recently, the trend has caught a lot more attention, so I think a lot more people are buying the supplies to make them."
The San Antonio Police Department has not received any calls about the explosions, according to a spokesperson. Emails sent to the three major military bases in the area have gone unanswered.
