The 77th Montgomery County Agricultural Fair has begun in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The fair, which started on Friday, features various activities, including rides, food, and agricultural exhibits. For Makonnen Brown, of Silver Spring, attending the fair on the first day is a tradition. Brown came with Zema Belete and their two 6-year-old daughters, Kali and Kamlla, who enjoyed the rides and had their faces painted.
Agriculture at the Heart of the Fair
Beyond the fun activities, agriculture remains a key part of the fair. Outside the Goat and Sheep Pavilion, 10-year-old Hannah Keller was shearing her lamb, which she will show on Wednesday. Her mother, Marla Keller, said that working with livestock teaches their daughter valuable lessons about responsibility and the cycles of life.
