Missouri State University’s football team is preparing for the upcoming season with a strong group of receivers, including Mekhi Miller, a transfer from the University of Missouri. Miller, who was dubbed ‘Mr. Consistent’ by his former head coach Eli Drinkwitz, brings valuable experience from his time in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Leadership and Experience

Miller, who logged 1,005 snaps during his three seasons at Mizzou, is expected to provide leadership and guidance to the younger players on the team. He is joined by other experienced receivers, including Jmariyae Robinson, Isaiah Myers, and Makai Cope, who make up one of the most veteran groups of pass-catchers in Conference USA.

Wide receivers coach Jacoby Walker praised Miller’s work ethic and ability to mentor the younger players. ‘I know his receiving stats don’t show it, but he’s played a lot of football and played good football,’ Walker said. ‘He can play inside, outside, special teams. He has learned the offense really well and has done a good job of mentoring the young guys.’

Team Goals

Miller and the rest of the team are focused on making the most of their final year of eligibility. ‘It’s the culture that (head coach Casey Woods) brings; he instilled it in us,’ Miller said. ‘We want to make sure we’re doing our part as players and uphold ourselves to that standard and culture, so we can be competitive and compete for a championship.’
