An 8-year-old boy from Iowa, who was reported missing earlier on Sunday, has been found safe in Omaha, Nebraska. Authorities have confirmed that the alleged kidnapper is now in custody.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office issued an endangered persons advisory for the child on Sunday morning. A nationwide kidnapping warrant was also issued for 51-year-old Garry McBreen, the suspect in the case.
Information received by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office indicated that McBreen and the boy were in Omaha. Nebraska State Patrol troopers successfully located the child at a McDonald’s restaurant in the city.
Troopers were able to make contact with McBreen and convinced him to stop his vehicle, leading to his arrest. Authorities have confirmed that the boy is safe and has been reunited with his mother.
