Minari Market Introduces Unique Asian Marketplace to Downtown Vancouver

Downtown Vancouver is set to welcome a fresh addition to its vibrant Main Street corridor with the opening of Minari Market. This new Asian marketplace, located at 808 Main Street, officially opens its doors on Memorial Day, May 25, from 1 to 8 p.m. The market is part of the Main Street Promise initiative, which aims to revitalize the area by attracting unique businesses.

A New Marketplace Concept

Minari Market brings a novel concept to the area by combining an Asian retail market with an interactive instant ramen experience. Inspired by Korean convenience stores, the market allows customers to create their own ramen dishes by choosing from a variety of noodles, toppings, snacks, and drinks. Meals can be prepared in under four minutes using specialized induction cookers and enjoyed in the market’s seating area.

In addition to the ramen bar, Minari Market offers a wide selection of products, including canned beverages, Asian breads, mochi, snacks, candy, stationery, stickers, dishware, and grab-and-go foods. The market also features house-made onigiri with flavors such as tuna mayo, shrimp tempura, chicken karaage, and seaweed salad with pickled radish. Vegan and spicy options are available, and fresh kimbap is planned for future offerings.

A Place for Community Gathering

Leah Pluard, the owner of Minari Market, shared that the idea for the market was inspired by late-night ramen cravings with her brother, where their great-grandmother would prepare ramen as a gesture of love. The market aims to be more than just a place to grab a quick meal; it is designed to be a welcoming space for people to gather, connect, and enjoy comfort food in a new way.

The opening of Minari Market marks another step in the transformation of Downtown Vancouver’s retail and dining scene. As the Main Street corridor continues to evolve, the market represents the entrepreneurial spirit and cultural diversity that are shaping the area.
