Michael Rapaport says pro‑Israel stance leads to industry blacklisting

During the launch of his new OutKick program, “The Craig Carton Show,” veteran actor Michael Rapaport warned that his outspoken support for Israel has become a professional liability. Rapaport, who has worked in film and television for more than three decades, said the entertainment industry’s shift to the far left has created an environment where pro‑Israel voices are increasingly marginalized.

Industry pressure and show cancellations

Rapaport explained that clubs and comedy venues are now hesitant to book him because staff receive threats and harassment on social media. He cited a recent Chicago show that was canceled after police indicated they could not guarantee safety for the venue’s staff. “It doesn’t make anyone comfortable – the club, the other comedians, the audience,” he said.

Hollywood “ghosting” over social‑media protests

According to Rapaport, studios are now reluctant to hire him for film and television projects, fearing protests on Twitter and other platforms. He described being “ghosted” by producers who once offered him regular work, noting that the fear of online backlash has become a decisive factor in casting decisions.

Personal harassment in New York

As a proud Jewish New Yorker, Rapaport also reported verbal attacks while walking the streets of his hometown. He recounted hearing slurs such as “f—ing Zionist” and described the experience as both painful and embarrassing. “Anti‑Semitic, anti‑Jewish stuff hurts me and makes other Jewish people feel unsafe,” he said.

Broader cultural climate

Rapaport argued that the hostility toward openly Jewish individuals reflects a broader trend in major blue‑state cities, where extremist rhetoric appears to be tolerated. He referenced New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s policies, suggesting they have contributed to an environment where some Jews feel uncomfortable displaying religious symbols like yarmulkes.

While Rapaport’s account is personal, it underscores a larger conversation about free speech, religious liberty, and the role of cancel culture in the entertainment sector. Critics of his viewpoint often cite concerns about the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict, but Rapaport maintains that simply supporting Israel should not result in professional or personal retaliation.
