Miami Beach Incident: Man Dies After Fall from 25th Floor Condo

In a tragic incident at the Akoya Condominium in Miami Beach, 37-year-old Corey Hutterli is facing charges including second-degree murder following the death of Justin Zelin. Surveillance and body camera footage have shed light on the events surrounding Zelin’s death on February 15.

Incident Details

According to police reports, Zelin, who resided on the building’s 25th floor, had called 911 to report a disturbance in his apartment. During the call, Zelin was heard asking Hutterli to leave, followed by sounds of a struggle. Shortly thereafter, surveillance footage captured Zelin’s body falling to the ground outside the building.

When officers arrived, they encountered Hutterli leaving Zelin’s apartment in a state described as ‘excited,’ wearing socks but no shoes. Hutterli reportedly told officers that Zelin had attacked him and expressed confusion about Zelin’s whereabouts, asking, ‘Did he jump?’

Investigation and Defense

Inside the apartment, police found it in disarray, with Hutterli’s sandals on the balcony and a small smudge of blood on the railing. Clumps of beard hair, believed to be Hutterli’s, were scattered in the living room, and his backpack contained more hair and a jacket with a small baggie of ketamine.

Hutterli, who had visible injuries including a laceration on his thumb and scratches on his face, was detained. Defense attorneys claim that Hutterli was an overnight guest and that Zelin experienced a sudden mental break, leading to his fatal fall from the balcony.

Hutterli, who has been in custody since April, appeared in court seeking pre-trial release, with another hearing scheduled soon.
