Mets Move Robert Stock to IL, Recall Xzavion Curry for Orioles Game

The New York Mets announced roster changes on Wednesday night as they continue a push to climb out of last place in the National League East. Veteran right‑hander Robert Stock, 36, was placed on the 15‑day injured list after experiencing numbness in his fingers. Stock had appeared in eight games this season, starting seven, and posted a 5.93 ERA with a 1‑3 record before the injury ended his campaign.

Also heading to the injured list was right‑hander Daniel Duarte, 29, who is dealing with a left hamstring strain. Duarte finished the season with a perfect 2‑0 record and an impressive 2.12 ERA across 24 relief appearances, providing solid depth out of the bullpen.

To fill the void, the Mets recalled right‑hander Xzavion Curry, 28, from Triple‑A. Curry previously logged eight relief outings for New York earlier this season, posting a 3.44 ERA. He will start Wednesday night’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles, giving the club a fresh arm as they seek to halt a losing streak.

In addition, left‑hander Jefry Yan, 30, was also recalled. Yan made his major‑league debut on August 5 and has appeared in 13 relief outings, recording a 5.68 ERA and a 1‑1 record. The Mets hope Yan’s left‑handed option will add flexibility to a bullpen that has struggled with consistency.

Last Wednesday, Stock’s most recent start resulted in a 15‑14 win over the Miami Marbles, where he allowed three runs over four innings in a no‑decision. The decision to place him on the injured list came after medical staff identified persistent finger numbness that could jeopardize his effectiveness.

With less than two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Mets are looking to maximize every available arm. The team’s recent performance has left them at the bottom of the NL East, and the front office is banking on the recalled pitchers to provide stability and spark a late‑season surge.

Managerial staff emphasized that the moves are part of a broader effort to keep the roster healthy and competitive as the season draws to a close. “We have to make sure our pitchers are ready and able to perform at the highest level,” a team spokesperson said. “These roster adjustments reflect our commitment to giving the team the best chance to win the remaining games.”

The upcoming series against the Orioles will be a crucial test for Curry and Yan. Both pitchers will aim to deliver quality outings that could help the Mets secure a win and begin climbing the division standings.

Fans can follow the game live on local television and radio, and updates on the Mets’ roster moves will continue to be posted on the team’s official website and social media channels.
