Mesilla Valley Transportation (MTV) hosted its quarterly Driver Appreciation Day on Thursday, Aug. 20, at several of its terminals, with the main celebration taking place in El Paso, Texas. The three‑hour event, running from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., recognized drivers for safety, performance and overall work ethic.
Quarterly recognition and incentives
MTV holds the appreciation event every quarter to honor drivers who meet high standards. This year, the company announced that one driver would receive a new automobile. The award will go to the driver who posted the best miles‑per‑gallon average while maintaining a perfect Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) score for the quarter.
Family‑friendly festivities
In addition to the vehicle prize, the celebration featured a range of activities for drivers and their families, including games, food stations and other giveaways. MTV said the family‑focused atmosphere underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the people who keep its freight moving across the region.
Multiple terminals participate
While El Paso served as the central hub, the event also took place at MTV terminals in Laredo, Hutchins, Tennessee and Ohio, reflecting the company’s broad footprint in the Southwest and beyond.
MTV’s driver appreciation program is part of a larger effort to retain skilled operators in an industry facing nationwide driver shortages. By rewarding fuel efficiency and safety compliance, the company aims to promote responsible driving practices that benefit both the business and the communities it serves.
