Maryland State Fair Offers Two More Weekends of Family Fun Through Labor Day

The Maryland State Fair in Baltimore is extending its season, giving residents two more weekends to enjoy the traditional summer celebration. The second weekend runs Thursday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 7, and the final weekend runs Thursday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 13, including the four‑day Labor Day holiday.

Free entertainment for all ages

Fair organizers have stocked the midway with a variety of free attractions that appeal to families, animal lovers, and anyone looking for a light‑hearted outing. Highlights include the Otter Adventure Water Show, Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, and the brand‑new Dinosaur Mini Golf course. Visitors can also watch Mobile Glass Studio artist Nate Avery demonstrate glassblowing during the Labor Day weekend.

Activities that calm and excite

For those seeking a quieter experience, the fair offers cuddle sessions with miniature Highland cows and a Puppy Yoga class that lets participants stretch alongside friendly pups. On Sept. 11, a Sensory‑Friendly morning provides a low‑stimulus environment for children who benefit from reduced noise and crowds.

Kids who crave high energy can climb aboard the Tevis Energy Touch‑A‑Truck display, and later in the day families can settle down for “Cow Tales Barnyard Bedtime Stories,” a gentle reading session held among the cows.

Blue‑catfish cook‑off and live music

The inaugural Battle of the Bay: Wild‑Caught Blue Catfish Cook‑Off pits five local chefs against each other to create the best recipe using the invasive blue catfish. Attendees vote for the winner, with a $1,000 prize and a trophy awaiting the champion.

Music lovers will find plenty to enjoy in the M&T Bank Concert Series. Performances include the marching band Congress the Band, rock outfit Clutch, and a family‑friendly K‑Pop Dance Party.

Practical information

Parents should note the unaccompanied minor policy: anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone aged 21 or older, and each chaperone may supervise up to six minors. Proof of age is required.

General admission tickets cost between $11.10 and $16.10, depending on the day and package selected. Additional events range from $18.10 to $50.10. All tickets and a detailed schedule are available on the Maryland State Fair website.

Why the fair matters to Maryland families

Beyond entertainment, the fair reinforces community bonds and offers educational experiences that align with traditional family values. By providing free, wholesome activities and a safe environment for children, the event supports the pillars of faith, family, and liberty that many Marylanders hold dear.

Whether you’re a longtime fairgoer or a first‑time visitor, the remaining weekends promise a memorable blend of agriculture, arts, and amusement that celebrates the best of Maryland’s heritage.
