On Saturday evening, just after 7 p.m., a golf‑cart fire erupted near the 8100 block of Southeast Eagle Avenue, off Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway in Hobe Sound, Florida. Martin County Fire Rescue crews arrived promptly, limiting the blaze to the garage, porch and side of the adjacent home.
Rapid response saves home and family
Engine companies 30 and 32, along with Ladder 33, Tender 44, EMS 3, Battalion 3 and Rescue units 301, 302 and 331, worked together to extinguish the flames. Their coordinated effort kept the fire from reaching the main structure of the house, allowing residents to re‑enter their home once the smoke cleared.
One occupant reported minor injuries and smoke inhalation but declined transport to a medical facility. The family’s cat, which had been missing during the incident, was later found safe inside the house.
Investigation underway
The State Fire Marshal has been notified and will investigate the cause of the fire. No further details about the origin have been released at this time.
