A Palm Beach County man, Markell Tillman, 33, was arrested after leading Martin County deputies on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds over 100 mph on State Road 710 in Indiantown.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Tillman was driving aggressively, forcing other vehicles off the road. When deputies attempted to stop him, he fled, weaving through traffic and turning onto SW Martin Highway toward Palm City while continuing to drive recklessly.
Deputies later spotted Tillman traveling eastbound on Martin Highway near Allapattah Road. Deputies awaiting his arrival deployed vehicle-disabling stop sticks, which rendered his car inoperable near I-95.
Tillman then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after running only a few yards. He faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, operating a vehicle exceeding the speed limit by 50+ mph, driving with a suspended or revoked license, obstruction without violence, operating a vehicle at 100+ mph and an out-of-county warrant.
